Jobber Interview Intelligence

Questions built for your role at Jobber, each with a guide to structuring the answer against your own experience.

One of Jobber's own four published values is called, in exactly these words, You Give A Shit, and the loop is reported to actually test for it.

Most roles are reported to include a take home exercise followed by a live functional interview where you defend your own solution in front of the people who will work with you, not a generic panel reciting a scorecard.

02 / Hiring process

Five stages, and one of them decides it

5 stages from application to offer. Take home exercise is reported to be the one that decides it.

5stages

01

Recruiter screen 30 minutes

Background, motivation and basic fit with a recruiter. Reported to be the shortest and least technical stage, and the first place the four published values get referenced directly.

02

Hiring manager interview role specific

A deeper conversation with the actual hiring manager, reported to cover past work and role specific scope. For sales roles this is reported to include the supporting sales manager as well.

03

Take home exercise then a live functional interview about it

A take home assignment followed by a live interview where you walk the panel through your own solution and defend the decisions in it. Reported to be where technical or role specific depth is actually tested, more than the take home document itself.

04

Leadership interview VP level

A conversation with a more senior leader, reported as the VP of Engineering for technical roles or VP of Sales for sales roles. Fit with how Jobber actually operates is reported to matter as much as the answer itself here.

05

Team meet and decision meet the team, then an offer

A lower pressure meeting with the team you would actually join, followed by a decision. Reported to run about two to three weeks from first contact for most roles.

Ask before the interview: what will this round cover, who will I meet, and is there anything I should prepare? The question almost nobody asks

03 / Question library

Every role goes through the same recruiter screen and take home stage, so the core set below applies whatever you applied for. Each specific role then adds the rounds particular to it.

01 Why do you want to work at Jobber? Motivation Open guide

Find your angle. Opens the recruiter screen. A generic answer about liking SaaS or wanting to work at a growing company says nothing specific about you or this employer.

Build your answer

  • Name something specific about Jobber. The customer base, a product line, or something concrete, not the industry in general.
  • Connect it to your own history. Why that particular thing matters given what you've actually done.
  • Say what you want from the role. What you hope to build, stated plainly.

Bring the evidence

One concrete, checkable fact about Jobber tied to something real about your own background.

What weakens it

Jobber seems like a fast growing company with a great culture.

02 Tell me about a time you took initiative without being told exactly how to do it. Initiative Open guide

Find your angle. Maps directly to 'you think like an entrepreneur'. Tests a real instance of acting under ambiguity, not a general claim of being proactive.

Build your answer

  • Name the ambiguous situation. What wasn't defined for you, specifically.
  • Describe the actual decision you made. Not just that you 'took ownership'.
  • State the outcome honestly. Including if it wasn't a clean win.

Bring the evidence

A specifically named ambiguous situation, a concrete decision you made, and an honest outcome.

What weakens it

I'm a proactive person who likes to take charge when things are unclear.

05 / The four values

What is actually being scored

Jobber publishes four values in exactly this language on its own careers page. Bring a real story for each rather than a general answer about wanting to work at a fast growing company.

4stories

You think like an entrepreneur

A time you took initiative and delivered a result without being told exactly how, the way the founders describe the service pros Jobber serves.

You're supportive

A time you helped a teammate succeed without needing credit for it yourself.

You're humble

A time you took feedback that was hard to hear and changed something real because of it, not just said thank you and moved on.

You give a shit

A time you went further than the job required because the outcome genuinely mattered to you, not because it was assigned.

06 / Before you apply

Where candidates lose it

Pro Where candidates lose this before anyone meets them

The part of the process that eliminates most people is not the interview. It is what happens around it, and almost none of it is written down anywhere.

  • The assessment answers that read as dishonest rather than confident
  • What the availability question is really deciding
  • The application detail that cannot be edited once submitted
