PwC Interview Intelligence

Questions built for your line of service at PwC, each with a guide to structuring the answer against your own experience.

The case round is reported to run as a full day event, not a single interview: three to four separate forty five minute case sessions in one sitting, each simulating a different piece of real consulting work.

Candidates are reported to face a mix of an individual case, a group case worked alongside other candidates while interviewers watch, and sometimes a written case, before a final, more conversational interview with a partner or director from the actual line of service applied to.

02 / Hiring process

Five stages, and one of them decides it

5 stages from application to offer. Game based online assessment is reported to be the one that decides it.

5stages

01

Online application resume and two office preferences

An online application where candidates select their preferred office locations alongside a resume, reported to be followed within hours by an emailed assessment.

02

Game based online assessment 3 day window, no interviewer

A series of game based exercises reported to measure numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning, logical thinking and behavioural preferences, completed within a three day window after being sent.

03

Video interview fit and workplace case studies

A recorded video round reported to combine standard behavioural questions with short workplace case style prompts, screened before any live case round.

04

Case round (Super Day) 3 to 4 sessions, one full day

Reported to run as a single full day event with three to four separate forty five minute sessions, mixing an individual case, a group case observed by interviewers, and in some lines of service a written case.

05

Partner or director interview informal, then a decision within two weeks

A shorter, more conversational round with a partner or senior manager from the specific line of service applied to, reported to be less structured than the case round but still factored into the final call, with a decision reported within roughly two weeks of passing it.

Ask before the interview: what will this round cover, who will I meet, and is there anything I should prepare? The question almost nobody asks

03 / Question library

Interview question practice library

The online assessment, the case round and the five values apply across every line of service, so the core set below covers that ground. Each line of service then adds the technical depth specific to it.

01 Why PwC, and why this line of service specifically? Motivation Open guide

Find your angle. Screens for a candidate who picked PwC over the other three firms for a reason beyond brand recognition.

Build your answer

  • Name the specific line of service. Not just 'PwC', the actual practice you applied to.
  • Tie it to something you've actually done. A project, a course, a prior role that points at this practice.
  • Say what you want out of the next few years there. Concrete, not a general career statement.

Bring the evidence

One fact about the line of service you applied to that most applicants to PwC in general would not know.

What weakens it

PwC is one of the Big Four and has a great reputation and strong training program.

02 Walk me through how you approach a timed reasoning test when you're running out of time. Assessment Open guide

Find your angle. The game based online assessment is reported to run under a hard clock; this checks whether a candidate has an actual strategy for that pressure.

Build your answer

  • Describe your triage method. How you decide what to skip versus what to fight through.
  • Give a concrete past instance. A specific timed test or exam where this mattered.
  • Say what you'd do differently under a game format. Since these are game based, not standard multiple choice.

Bring the evidence

A specific timed test or exercise where you had to make a real tradeoff between speed and accuracy.

What weakens it

I just try to answer every question as fast as I can.

05 / The five values

What is actually being scored

PwC publishes five global values in this exact language. Bring one real story for each rather than a general answer about wanting to work at a Big Four firm.

5stories

Act with Integrity

A time you spoke up about something you believed was wrong even though it was easier to stay quiet.

Make a Difference

A time your specific action changed a real outcome for a client, colleague or your community, not just your own task list.

Care

A time you took the effort to understand what actually mattered to someone else before deciding how to help them.

Work Together

A time you built a working relationship across a real boundary, a team, a department or an organisation, to get something done.

Reimagine the Possible

A time you changed your approach quickly when the situation around you shifted, rather than sticking with the original plan.

06 / Before you apply

Where candidates lose it

Pro Where candidates lose this before anyone meets them

The part of the process that eliminates most people is not the interview. It is what happens around it, and almost none of it is written down anywhere.

  • The assessment answers that read as dishonest rather than confident
  • What the availability question is really deciding
  • The application detail that cannot be edited once submitted
